Fossella (R) scared to debate Harrison (D): day 42

Two things today. First we have brought back the duck after many requests. And second we start the side-by-side comparison of which will be higher, the number of days Rep. Vito Fossella works this year or the number of days he avoids debates with Stephen Harrison (D).

This is simply false. On Tuesday August 22, Vito Fossella was on NY1 network while at a meeting with the NAACP and specifically said there are debates scheduled between both camps and how he has been looking forward to them. Fossella has asked repeatedly to set a time and date but reports say the Harrison camp didnt respond. I called up Fossella's campaign and they said both they and Harrison's staff met on Sep 8th and decided to schedule a debate very soon in both Staten Island and Bay Ridge once the civic groups come up with times and locations.

Can you show me where the debates are listed? This was posted on Sept. 7, so telling me they talked on Sept 8 in no way makes this false. Harrison wrote to Fossella asking for debates on July 28th. Even if what you say is true, why did it take a month for Fossella to agree?

I can confirm that what haagendas posted isn't true. I don't know if it's Fossella not telling the truth or haagendas being mistaken.

The meeting to schedule the debates didn't even happen until 9/8. At that meeting Fossella's chief of staff promised to provide the Harrison campaign with a list of available dates. They have not yet fufilled that commitment.

To be fair Fossella's team has proposed one debate: at a Republican-symphetic club that never gets any coverage, using a format where the moderator gets to choose who asks questions, in a remote part of the district.

Also, a search of NY1's archives turns up nothing with either Fossella or the NAACP on August 22. Haagendas, can you provide any sources for your quote? I'd be very interested in seeing them.
