Fossella had twice the legal blood alcohol level when arrested

via the Advance;

Court records show that Rep. Vito Fossella (R-Staten Island/Brooklyn) had a blood-alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit when he was arrested on drunken driving charges this week.

Court papers indicate that Fossella's blood-alcohol level was 0.17 percent when he was arrested early Thursday outside Washington. The legal limit in Virginia is 0.08 percent.

Fossella will have to serve a mandatory five days in jail if convicted.

So based on your standards, when Patrick Kennedy crashed his car into the Capitol barricade at 2AM in April 2006, he should've resigned? That's odd, as he's still serving in Congress.

who said anything about Kennedy? Kennedy doesn't live in the district and nobody can kick him out of congress except his constituents.

If they're stupid enough to vote him in, that's their problem. Let's not be stupid enough to vote this guy i again.

To all those who continue to reflexively support the craven charlatan Vito Fossella, may I dare ask:

Precisely what has this person ever done for Staten Island? FOR STATEN ISLAND, let alone for humanity? Let's put aside his disgraceful conduct both during and after the DUI episode and think about the bigger picture for a minute.

Is Mr. Fossella to be commended for continually trumpeting his unthinking and unyielding support for George Bush's disastrous policies, as he did yet again last year by cartoonishly sounding a “clarion call” to keep on sending more men to fight and die in Iraq?

Haven't we had enough of people like him who play on people's ignorance, fears and superstitions so that they may personally benefit from the resultant murder and mayhem that they knowlingly wreak on our own troops, not to mention on countless thousands of innocent Iraqis who have been killed, maimed, displaced and generally terrorized by the war he so enthusiastically supports (without ever having served in the military himself, of course, just like his chicken-hawk mentors Bush, Cheney, et al)?

Pray tell, what, precisely, what are we getting out of all this? How do Vito Fossella’s absurd bloviations, particularly his incitements to continue murdering people in Iraq for his own personal benefit, result in any tangible improvements to everyday life on Staten Island, or anywhere else for that matter? How?

I guess for some people the whole thing is about “fighting terrorism”, even though IRAQ HAD ZERO CONNECTION TO 9/11, HAD NO WMD’s, AND WAS NEVER EVEN A REMOTE THREAT TO THE US, AS ALL THE EVIDENCE HAS ALWAYS INDICATED. Meanwhile, as the war rages on into a sixth year, Chicken-Hawk Vito is suddenly intercepted by the police for running a red light on a peaceful Virginia road after having boozed it up with the fellas at George Bush's super bowl party, perhaps on the way to visit his girlfriend for a little side action, and then after he's caught, he says he's so sorry that he “made a mistake."

You know, for all his votes in support of the war, I'd have thought Mr. Fossella should have been taken into custody and put on trial long ago for being an accessory to murder. Let's face it: five days in the county jail is probably pretty darn light compared to what he'd get if convicted under the laws our own government helped put in place at Nuremberg.

I’m a Marine veteran and FOURTH GENERATION Staten Islander. It is so sad to see that my neighbors have voted for this disgraceful person over and over again. You want to do it again? Go ahead, I can’t stop you.
