McMahon: Still supports U.S. action in Iraq?
(Guest post by Ahmed Kokon)
"He appeals to us on his opposition to gay marriage, and he told us he continues to support U.S. action in Iraq."
- Conservative Party Chairman Jerry Kassar
Following the corruption, ineffectiveness and hypocrisy of Rep. Vito Fossella.

Is filling this seat with a Blue Dog Democrat the best we can do? Is it what we want to do?
With the Rs in tatters we had a chance to have a real Dem in the seat. Instead the SI machine chose someone with the right Zip Code. This is the first thing I have heard about McMahon's stand on ANY issues.
That would contradict his very strident and clear opposition to the war in Iraq at the Democratic Convention. And certainly I couldn't imagine him saying anything pro-war to the WFP people.
I suspect he said something nuanced along the lines of Barak Obama about how we need to be careful how we withdraw. But if that second hand account of McMahon's words is accurate that would be nothing short of politically stupid on his part.
Is there any anti-war position that would be OK with the Conservatives?
"US action in Iraq" is pretty vague, technically it could even mean diplomacy or a slow drawdown of troops.
better get some clarification from him on this. i don't particularly wanna be stuck with mcmahon, but if he's actually pro-war, then i'd have no choice but support fran powers (the younger) in the general
