The Democratic Bench, Matthew Titone
With the retirement of State Senator Marachi in the 24th Senate district comes an opportunity for Democrats to pick up another seat in Staten Island and deepening their bench.
City Councilman Andrew Lanza (R) appears to be the Republican favorite, picking up endorsements from basically every elected Republican official short of Marachi.
On the Democratic side Matthew Titone appears to be the party's best shot at the nomination. He is the son of Hon. Vito Titone, Staten Island's Court of Appeals Judge. Matthew practices law in a private firm on Staten Island.
Via Titone's issue page;
As our State Senator, Matt Titone will continue to fight for the people of Staten Island. He will tackle Staten Island's TRAFFIC, TRANSPORTATION and OVER-DEVELOPMENT crises, fighting for our fair share of EDUCATION FUNDING, improving HEALTH CARE services on Staten Island, and fighting for meaningful TAX RELIEF for our seniors, veterans and middle income families.
"The call to public service should be answered with dedicated service to the community, and not to one's own self interest."
Should Lanza win the seat, his City Council seat would open up for Dems to take, but I would much rather him stay in City Council as one of the rare Republicans and send Matthew Titone to Albany.
